Beef Stew with Dumplings

Just the thought of Gram-Mim’s beef stew with dumplings makes my mouth water.  I can’t remember a time that I didn’t ask for her stew and dumplings when I went over.  I went over a lot so she must have got sick of me asking.  It’s a simple recipe with beef, potatoes, carrots and seasonings.  Everything is always just right and yummy melt in your mouth stew.  The best part is the dumplings.  Everyone got one huge dumpling but we’d always fight over the tiny ones or sliders as gram called them.  I wish I had a photo to share and post but I’m not a food photo person but I will take a photo next time I make stew.

I now can make the stew and everyone has their favourite parts. My son likes the dumplings whereas my daughter doesn’t like them.  My daughter gets my son’s beef chunks.  I insist that everyone eat a few carrots since I use a two pound bag of baby carrots in my stew.  I have made a few modifications the last few times I’ve made it.  My gravy is made with rice flour and the dumplings are made with gluten-free Bisquick.  The best part of my stew now is I share it with my grams now.  

Today is cool enough to make stew but I don’t have all the ingredients here and I have to go to work tonight but I think I need to make stew soon.  I think I want the dumplings more…yummy.

    1. Aww thanks Angela!! I know I have to make it before our exchange student goes home – she may end up giving my daughter her beef too
